14/03/2018 1 – INITIATIVES
Wednesday, March 14, 2018 will celebrate the second edition of the National Landscape Day established by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism with the aim of recalling the landscape as the identity value of the country and transmit to the younger generation the message that the protection of landscape and the study of its historical memory constitute unavoidable cultural values and premise for a conscious use of the territory and a sustainable development.
These aspects fully adhere also to the aims of the European Year of Cultural Heritage – which is celebrated just this year – aimed at “encouraging the sharing and enhancement of Europe’s cultural heritage as a shared resource, raising awareness of history and values and strengthen the sense of belonging to a common European area “[as the European Union device states].
The connection between the two events offers an extraordinary opportunity to highlight the common objectives and to enhance the events that will take place in museums and places of culture throughout the country.
At this important event, the Museum Pole of Basilicata did not miss its contribution, promoting in the Museums of Matera [Palazzo Lanfranchi and Domenico Ridola], Policoro, Melfi and Venosa a program of themed events, as shown below.
