As part of the cycle of events, “The great civilizations in a nutshell: meetings at the Museum”, on May 6, on the first Sunday of the month with free admission, the exhibition will be inaugurated: “In the footsteps of Heracles: fragments of Lucana story”.
The exhibition will be dedicated to the genesis of the Lucan identity and will focus on one of the key figures of Greek mythology, that of Heracles, the demigod, strong par excellence, for the multiplicity of his adventures and the complexity of his personality. In the Lucan world, where he was welcomed by the indigenous aristocracies since the Archaic age, Ercole is the model expression of heroic strength and virtue. For the occasion will be exposed some bronze votive objects found in the sanctuary of Serra Lustrante of Armento (especially the club and leontè related to a cult statue of Heracles) and an enotrio plate depicting the fight between Heracles and stymphaff birds , all findings from the National Archaeological Museum of Siritide di Policoro. Once again as a background to the main element will be found as part of the permanent exhibition of the museum.
