Culture is what makes us survive.
It would be a sort of second nature of man.
[Marco Aime, Culture, Ed. Bollati Boringhieri 2013]
Continue the review Food for the Mind, the series of events organized by the Museum Pole of Basilicata in the offices of the two archaeological museums of Magna Grecia lucana, Metaponto and Policoro, to nourish the mind and animate the cultural summer of the area.
It is the turn of the National Archaeological Museum of Siritide di Policoro where, Monday 20 August p.v. at 18.30 Professor Marco Aime – Professor of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Genoa, will dialogue with his “Culture”.

Marco Aime, attentive observer of the different, with his wise Culture [ed. Bollati Boringhieri – 2013] manages to communicate the multifaceted and ambiguous face of the word culture in just over a hundred pages, with a clear and passionate language, with methodological rigor and above all with a great openness of mind and a rare empathy towards the «other», The only really necessary requirement to avoid falling into vaunted« wars between cultures». Of “culture” over time different definitions have been given to try to curb such a deformable concept. Yet we live in culture and we often invoke it.
The emotionality of the story, amplified by the colors of the sunset, will stimulate the minds because “there is nothing in the intellect that has not entered through the senses” to say it with Popper.
To accompany this dialogue there will be some local food and wine excellences that will complete the moment of sharing linked to the concepts of culture, territory and food.
And at the end a short tour of the museum hosting the initiative will link this experience to the great museum heritage of the Magna Graecia of Basilicata.

Next meeting at the Tavole Palatine, Wednesday, August 28th, at 9.00 pm

Under the skies of the Palatine Tables, in collaboration with the Planetarium of Anzi.
Free admission.
