INAUGURATION
Thursday, July 19th h. 19:00
Free entry
Thursday 19 July 2018 at 07.00 pm, on the occasion of the free day “19 minus one“, in all museums of the Museum Pole of Basilicata the photographic exhibitions of the project 10 Photographers for 10 Museums will be inaugurated, realized thanks to the Contemporary Art Plan of the MiBAC.
The exhibitions are the first part of the rich summer cultural program that is added to a program of events and shows – shared with the cultural associations of the area – that have started on the terrace of Palazzo Lanfranchi and in the garden of Museo Ridola.
Protagonists of this extraordinary photographic adventure with which the Museum Center has tried to answer the question: “What language do our Museums speak?” Were Francesco Radino [Palazzo Lanfranchi Museum], Mario Cresci [Domenico Ridola Archaeological Museum] Matera], Pierangelo Laterza [Archaeological Museum of Metaponto], Angela Rosati [Archaeological Museum of Siritide di Policoro], Francesco La Centra [Museum of the High Val d’Agri in Grumento Nova], Alfredo Chiarappa [Archaeological Museum Dinu Adamesteanu di Potenza], Cosmo Laera [Massimo Pallottino Archaeological Museum of Melfi], Michele Battilomo [Museum and Archaeological Park of Venosa], Federica Danzi [Archaeological Museum of Muro Lucano] and Luca Centola [Palazzo Ducale di Tricarico].
«10 photographers of different experiences, gender, age, language, critical approach and feeling, – said Marta Ragozzino – but all of them are rather deeply connected to our territory, who have told their museums in their own way. It was not required a good documentation of the author, but it was expected that they would agree to break the mold, consent to immerse themselves in the museums without other mediations that their sensitivity and their language to make a different story, an interpretation of author, a site-specific artistic operation ».
And so it was. The results were truly surprising, as these exhibitions – which are all inaugurated on the same day at the same time – return: wonderful photographs that allow you to understand from within, from the center, from the heart “what language our museums speak” and also in what direction should we go.
The most important objective assigned to the museum poles, which collect the museums and places of public culture open to the public in each region, is to contribute to the creation of the national museum system, through the establishment or strengthening of the various territorial systems. These exhibitions represent a further piece of a real and active museum network able to speak to our territories with a careful and proactive look towards Matera – Basilicata 2019.
The exhibitions will remain open until September 15th, with the opening hours of the respective Museums. It is advisable to consult the new website of the Basilicata Museum Pole http://musei.basilicata.beniculturali.it and the FB pages of the Museums.
At the closing, all the exhibitions will merge into a single exhibition that will be inaugurated at Palazzo Lanfranchi on September 19th on the occasion of the free day of the museums “19 minus one”.
We are waiting for you!
